You can call me Betty. I live with my husband and our 5 year-old bulldog, George, in Washington, D.C. We recently returned to the States after two and a half years in Japan. Our time in D.C. is temporary as we are only here for language studies and training before we begin our next adventure... in Africa!
My husband's job has allowed him to see so much of the world and I am forever grateful for every opportunity to see some of it with him.
Aside from language studies and training, I have a lot of hobbies that keep me busy. I discovered sashiko stitching
while we were in Japan and find it very relaxing. D.C. apartments are fairly small without a lot of room to set up a sewing machine so hand-stitching works out well for me here. I also started teaching myself how to code while we were in Japan. I built a website called "Hello, Sasebo
!" using Ruby on Rails and am now learning Python and Django. I recently learned how to knit (basic knit stitch only) and plan on taking classes locally to learn more.
My husband (with George as his muse) runs an online t-shirt shop called Disaster Beast
. He draws dystopian comic-book-like characters and prints them on shirts. I am 100% biased but I think they are pretty cool. Have a peek!
Enjoy the blog!
