Rails Girls App Tutorial

December 07 2016

I started working on the Rails Girls App Tutorial a couple of weeks ago. There isn’t a local team but I have hopes of one day hosting a workshop here. As I work my way through the steps, I am practicing committing changes to Git and pushing to GitHub.

Thanks to the Git Real course on Code School, I was able to create a branch for a commenting feature, commit changes, merge the branch, delete the local and remote branches, and push the updated master to GitHub. For the more experienced user, this may seem insignificant but I was incredibly giddy.

Today I installed ImageMagick to resize photos and added authentication with Devise (steps 7 and 8). I would post a screenshot of my app but I just realized I haven’t set up Craft to allow image uploads yet. Oops. Maybe next time.
